Website revenue - earning money from websites

There are a number of ways that you can generate website revenue and money from your websites.

Some of the steps are very very simple and others a little more difficult to implement. However, how you choose to do it will always involve some basic planning - this is a business after all.

The first thing to do is look at your website structure and content for your visitors. What is your website designed to do and what is your unltimate goal.

If you are selling products and services on your website, then you have two realistic choices here:

1. Direct sales through selling products and services acquired at wholesale and selling for a profit

2. Selling someone elses product or service and you taking a cut as an afiliate

If you are going to generate revenue from advertising space then there are other options available to you:

1. Place network ads on your site and you get a cut of the costs

2. Place google adsense style ads on the pages and you get a cut

3. Place ads from direct bookings and you get paid 100% of the costs

Well, the third one sounds more attractive doesn't it, but you probably won't be suprised to hear that this one takes the most work!

The first two will mean that you sign up for the service and then strip some code onto your web pages and the third party companies serve the ads and pay you when someone clicks on them. This may be a great options if you don't have the time or expertise to secure business directly, but will only become a real earner if you have a very high level of visitors.

Of course, there are other articles on this website, which cover ad placements, designs, how to monetize etc.
